Maintaining good nutrition while breastfeeding is important to ensure a healthy recovery after pregnancy and birth. Lactation Cookies are a great snack alternative to boost nutrients and milk supply.

Breastfeeding Friendly Cookies

  • 2½ cups of steel cut oats/rolled oats/gluten free oats
  • 4 tablespoons ground flax seeds
  • ½ cup filtered water
  • 6 tablespoons (120g) extra-virgin coconut oil or grass fed butter
  • ¾ cup coconut sugar (or an alternative)
  • ¼ cup brewer’s yeast
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon good quality salt such as Murray River or PRL Premier Pink Salt
  • ⅔ cup dark chocolate chips (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 180C
  2. Combine flaxseed and water well
  3. Add in coconut oil, coconut sugar, brewers yeast, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt
  4. Combine well
  5. Stir in ½ cup oats
  6. Add the remaining oats into mixture and combine well
  7. Stir in chocolate chips
  8. Form into balls on lined baking tray, and use fork to press into cookie shape
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes

Allow to cool and enjoy!
